Restylane®
Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

Restylane maintains its shape using the body's own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or "water loving." As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.

Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.*

After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappears. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use Restylane.

Restylane Before & After Photo Gallery
In a simple procedure, Restylane® is injected directly into mid-to-deep dermis for long-lasting correction of facial wrinkles and folds. Results from a typical Restylane treatment have been documented to last for about six months. However, individual results may vary.

Advantages of Restylane
Restylane® is different from Botox®. Restylane is a natural, cosmetic filler. Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Restylane is different than other hyaluronic acid-based products and bovine collagen. Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins.* Bovine collagen is derived from cowhide and requires an allergy test. Restylane can be administered without pretesting, so no waiting is required.

Where Can Restylane Be Used?
Restylane® has been used in more than 3 million treatments7 in over 70 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance of the lip border. It is currently approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.
How Long Does Restylane Last?
Restylane® is proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane effects generally last for about six months. The unique NASHA™ technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

Follow-up treatments are typically scheduled at six-month intervals. (Individual results may vary.)

What Should You Expect?
You should take a few precautions before being treated with Restylane®. One week prior to treatment with Restylane, avoid taking St. John's Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.

Restylane is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may decide to numb the treatment area.

Safety
Since 1996, over 3 million Restylane® treatments7 have been safely administered by dermatologists and plastic surgeons in more than 70 countries. This innovative treatment is now approved in the U.S. for the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.

Restylane has a highly favorable safety profile. It's composed of Non-Animal Stabilized hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the human body. Restylane is fully biocompatible. There is limited risk of animal-based disease transmission or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins. No allergy testing is required before use.*

Based on clinical studies3, Restylane treatments produce a low occurrence of adverse events. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve in less than seven days.

Restylane Precautions
  • The safety of Restylane for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females or in patients under 18 years has not been established.
  • The safety of Restylane in patients with increased susceptibility to keloid formation and hypertrophic scarring has not been studied. Restylane should not be used in patients with known susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.
  • The patient should be informed that he or she should minimize exposure of the treated area to excessive sun and UV lamp exposure and extreme cold weather until any initial swelling and redness has resolved.
  • If laser treatment, chemical peeling or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with Restylane there is a possible risk of eliciting an inflammatory reaction at the implant site. This also applies if Restylane is administered before the skin has healed completely after such a procedure.

Artefill Charlotte NC
Get to know ArteFill®. It's the first and only FDA-approved injectable wrinkle filler designed for the correction of smile lines that doesn't get absorbed into the body. So you can look younger, longer with a filler that truly lasts. All it requires is a simple, in-office procedure for immediate wrinkle correction that stands the test of time. And thousands of women and men who have had ArteFill® are still loving their results.

If you've used temporary dermal fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm®, Radiesse® or Sculptra® in the past, then you know that they are eventually absorbed by your body and require frequent repeat injections to maintain the results you've come to love. ArteFill® is different. The unique microsphere technology within ArteFill® is not absorbed by the body and therefore provides the permanent support your skin needs for long-lasting results.

Why ArteFill?
Facial wrinkles are a result of the natural aging process. Over time, the skin loses its ability to repair itself as the underlying elastin and collagen fibers break down and lose elasticity. Heredity, UV exposure, and repetitive facial movement can all contribute to the development of facial wrinkles and folds.
ArteFill is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable wrinkle filler for the correction of smile lines.

  • Immediate, visible results with no down time
  • A simple, in-office procedure
  • Excellent safety profile1
  • Results improve over the course of several months and stand the test of time
  • Usually requires only 1 or 2 treatments
  • Personalized ArteFill Progressive Enhancement™ (gradual wrinkle correction) helps ensure the look you desire

Elevess

ELEVESS™ is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler for the aesthetic treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.

What is ELEVESS?

It is available in the U.S., EU and Canada, although product indications for use differ for each geographic region. Please refer to the product Instructions for Use (Package Insert) for further information and detail.

Long-lasting natural effects, combined with patient comfort and ease of use are key benefits of ELEVESS. It is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler to include an anesthetic (lidocaine) in its formulation, greatly increasing patient comfort during, and after, the injection procedure. Additional benefits of ELEVESS include: the highest available concentration of HA and a unique patented HA cross-linker in the formulation (for greater durability), an ergonomically designed syringe (for ease of handling) and unique properties that allow easy injection through a very thin (30G) needle to minimize discomfort to patients.

ELEVESS™ is made from hyaluronic acid (HA), also called hyaluronan. HA is a naturally occurring material found throughout the body.

How Does Elevess Work?

In skin, it plays a role in tissue repair, while in cartilage and other tissue, it functions as a lubricant. HA is present in the body as a polymer (a linked chain of many individual HA units), is continually produced and degrades naturally in the body over time. A 150-pound person has approximately 15 grams of HA throughout his or her body, nearly 5 grams of which is degraded and synthesized every day.

Azura Medical Spa

HA is present in the skin, where it has the ability to absorb large quantities of water–over 1,000 times its weight – and to form complexes with collagen and elastin. These complexes support the structure of the skin, contribute to the skin’s elasticity, and create volume in the skin to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Age, as well as exposure to the sun and pollution, leads to decreased production of HA, resulting in decreased volume and the appearance of wrinkles.
Cross-linked HA-based dermal fillers (such as ELEVESS) injected into the skin in the area of wrinkles help restore the skin’s youthful appearance.

Cosmetic Dermatology

Because HA is naturally found in skin, it is often used in the formulation of skin care products, such as topical creams or injectable dermal fillers. HA helps keep the skin hydrated, as well as fill out facial wrinkles and fine lines, and brings volume back to sunken or hollow areas of the face. Because cross-linked HA degrades much more slowly than free HA, cross-linked HA-based fillers can remain in the face for up to a year, providing much longer-lasting results than collagen-based fillers.

HA-based facial fillers are naturally reabsorbed by the body over a period of six months to a year, providing optimal wrinkle correction.
Over time, the skin on the face goes through transitions in texture and firmness, so the ideal dermal filler will gradually diminish in volume over time, allowing the re-application of the filler, accommodating changes in the patient’s skin.

Benefits of Elevess

* Natural and immediate effect
* Long-lasting results
* Ease of injection
* Minimized injection pain

ELEVESS™, like other dermal fillers, is injected directly into patients’ skin; however ELEVESS is the first FDA-approved HA-based dermal filler to include the anesthetic lidocaine, greatly reducing injection pain and increasing patient comfort.

Long-lasting*, more natural effects are the result of a unique, patented hyaluronic acid cross-linker and the highest concentration of HA of any available dermal filler.

Additional benefits of ELEVESS include an ergonomically designed syringe for ease of handling and unique properties that allow for easy injection through a very thin (30G) needle to minimize patient discomfort.

Risks/Contraindications:

ELEVESS is composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid and lidocaine, and contains sodium metabisulfite as an antioxidant. It may contain trace amounts of gram positive bacterial proteins. In rare occasions in certain susceptible people, sulfites (such as a metabisulfite) may cause allergic-type reactions (refer to professional product labeling for a complete list of warnings and precautions). ELEVESS is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergies to such material. ELEVESS is also contraindicated in patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis or a history or presence of multiple severe allergies.

Important safety considerations:

ELEVESS is indicated to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). It is injected directly into the skin.
Extensive pre-approval clinical studies demonstrated the safety and efficacy of ELEVESS. Some bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness, itching and nodule (small bumps) formation were recorded in clinical trials and may occur after injection. This will normally last less than seven days. Until the initial bruising and swelling is resolved, exposure to sun or other UV sources and extreme cold should be minimized.

In rare circumstances, other complications could occur (refer to product labeling for complete warnings and precautions information). More prominent bruising and bleeding may occur with people who are taking anti-coagulant drugs (blood thinners). The safety of ELEVESS for pregnant and nursing women has not been investigated. ELEVESS should be used with caution in people undergoing immunosuppressive therapy.

Subsequent laser treatment, chemical peeling or other dermal procedures may cause a possible risk of inflammatory response at the injection site. This also applies if ELEVESS is administered before the skin has healed after such procedures. The use of ELEVESS should be postponed in the case of certain inflammatory skin disorders, such as skin sores, rashes, cysts, hives or infection at the injection site.

* A recently completed clinical study of ELEVESS in the EU suggests that the product continues to demonstrate efficacy in a significant percentage of patients up to 1 year after treatment.

Juvederm

What Is JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel?

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form. But, with Juvéderm® injectable gel, you don't have to just sit back and let it happen!

JUVÉDERM® is the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved* to last up to 1 year

Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare professional eases Juvéderm® injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Juvéderm® provides a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! In fact, studies show superior results of Juvéderm® compared to a collagen-based dermal filler.†

  • Almost 90% of all study volunteers who were treated with both Juvéderm® injectable gel and another dermal filler† preferred Juvéderm®!
  • Juvéderm® injectable gel is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons of color.

Immediate Results

With Juvéderm® the injection process takes only about 15 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there's minimal recovery or downtime. So you can step into your doctor's office for treatment and step right back into your life.

*Juvéderm® is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

†The other dermal filler used in this study was ZYPLAST® dermal filler (bovine-based collagen).

Important JUVÉDERM® Treatment Considerations

Juvéderm® Ultra and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus are indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). Side effects were usually mild to moderate lasting 7 days or less and included temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. For more information, please click on the “About Safety” link, or call the Allergan Product Support line at 1-877-345-5372.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is approved for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people ages 18-65.

Important Safety Information about BOTOX® Cosmetic

Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely. If you think you're having an allergic reaction or other reactions, such as difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing, call your doctor immediately. The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.
